Your role:

The Head of Epidemiology is a global department leadership role within Clinical Measurement Sciences (CMS) with accountability for all scientific, strategic and operational aspects of the technical functions of Epidemiology, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR), and Real-World Data Sciences (RWDS).

You will ensure excellence in contributions and support across the R&D portfolio and through Life-Cycle Management.

Leadership accountability in this role will span across all therapeutic areas (e.g., Oncology, Neurology/ Immunology, Global Health, Lifecycle Management) and all therapeutic modalities (e.g., small molecules, biologics including monoclonal antibodies, bispecific constructs, and antibody-drug conjugates) in the company's portfolio to fulfill internal and global regulatory and post-marketing requirements.

You will collaborate across Healthcare on Patient Focused Drug Development (PFDD) as well as play a key role as a member of the CMS Leadership Team contributing to the department's functional strategy in support of R&D and Healthcare goals.

Your main task as team lead will be to:

  • Lead and develop a global team of direct and indirect reports who deliver technical and strategic expertise and state-of-the-art methodological and scientific contributions for epidemiological and RWD strategies, PFDD, and PCOR (incl. clinical outcomes development) across the R&D portfolio.
  • Lead the Epidemiology Leadership Team and actively nurture an open, collaborative culture within the organization, committed to continuous learning, talent development and innovation.
  • Develop and deliver against a functional strategic roadmap (including, but not limited to, a businessaligned external data strategy, education/training needs, external policy engagement, technology requirements, and global resourcing strategy)
  • Independently represent the breadth of the Epidemiology function at internal governance bodies (e.g., iPRC) and leadership teams (e.g., DULT). Cochairs the Non-Interventional Studies integrated Protocol Review Committee (NISiPRC)
  • Ensure leadership of internal infrastructure/ best practice initiatives/ Communities of Practice (e.g., RWD CoP) / task forces

Who you are
Mandatory qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health-Economics & Outcomes Research, or related discipline
  • Fluent in English
Preferred qualifications

  • At least 10 years' experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry in Clinical Development (with at least 5 in the area of Epidemiology, RWD and/or PCOR)
  • At least 5 years' experience as a group leader/people manager
  • Good working knowledge of main public and private research epidemiological databases
  • Good understanding of clinical drug development and lifecycle management
  • Experience working in an international setting
  • Advanced computing ability, including knowledge of specialized epidemiological/statistical packages
