As part of the research project "Between Voice and Silence: Communicative Norms in Diaries, ",

funded by the Leverhulme Trust, the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Chair of Modern History,

offers the position of

Researcher (m-w-d)

in part-time (80%) for a period of up to 3 years, starting on October 1, 2023.

Remuneration will be up to salary group 13 TV-L, depending on the tasks assigned and the fulfilment of

personal requirements.


Tasks:


  • Independent archival research in the German Diary Archive (Emmendingen).
  • Analysis and evaluation of the material with the help of a qualitative research database (NVIVO)
  • Collaboration (coauthorship) on the project's planned academic publications
  • Presentation of the project and its results at academic conferences

Requirements:


  • A completed academic university degree (Magister, Master, Staatsexamen) in history graded 'good' or
better.

  • The willingness and ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary (history, linguistics) research
team.

  • Good written and oral command of the English language.

Not a prerequisite, but advantageous:

  • A completed or welladvanced dissertation in history.
  • Experience with or interest in working with diaries, historical archival research and/or the databasesup
- ported analysis of historical texts.
