About the opportunity:


This is a role within the Advisory, Intelligence & Standards (AIS) team where the employee will work directly on the governance of the Anti-Financial Crime department.

The role(s) will provide ample opportunities for the employee to work on related projects and initiatives, work with various critical stakeholders relevant to the anti-financial crime department, and engage in continuous learning and development to ensure market best practices can be adopted and implemented.

In this role, you will:


  • Work with a high performance team that is the central point of contact for all AFC Advisory, Intelligence and Standards tasks, reporting into the Advisory, Intelligence and Standards Lead.
  • Ensure highest quality governance standards as well as further implementation of bestpractice and market standards in the Anti-Financial Crime function.
  • Plan, design and execute governance activities within the Anti-Financial Crime function.
  • Ensure alignment within the Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention functions as well as with other stakeholders (e.g. Risk, CEO Governance office, Audit, AFCO, external stakeholders).
  • Provide guidance and direction to business on issues related to AML, sanctions and antiterrorist financing laws and regulations.
  • Support special projects in relation to remediation exercises arising from audits, risk assessments, quality control and assurance and effectiveness tests.
  • Refine, communicate and feedback requirements as well ongoing initiatives and activities to stakeholders across the company.
  • Support work packages, e.g. on business partner risk, policies and procedures, and AFC initiatives within the Group Anti-Financial crime department.
  • Facilitate effective engagement with in
- and external stakeholders, e.g. through AFC related committees, working groups and meetings.

  • Contribute to ensuring strategic cohesion of Group AFC strategy and OKRs with N26 strategy and OKRs.
  • Act as the supporting function to the management of the AFC strategy by: (i) identifying risks and required mitigation measures, (ii) managing stakeholder relationships, (iii) clarifying requirements, (iv) communicating capacity and time limitations.

What you need to be successful:

  • 2+ years in regulatory/advisory functions with regards to governance or financial crime prevention and/or expertise in a (financial) institution at a European and/or German level, in a fintech/banking environment, or consulting with focus on Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention.
  • Knowledge of best practice and market standards on Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention function, work products and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing projects and/or work streams on stakeholder management, regulatory compliance and/or project management, ideally in a financial institution.
  • Bachelor degree in law, economics or equivalent with strong knowledge of laws, regulations and rules that govern Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention functions in banking institutions at a European and local level; postgraduate compliance training (e.g. Certified Compliance Professional, CIA, CAMS, CFE) would be an asset.
  • Understanding of Bank's legal and regulatory obligations, at a European and local level.
  • Desire of experience working in crossfunctional teams with diverse incentives.
  • Startup and fintechcompatibility, integrity, reliability, communication, proactivity, assertiveness and a hands on mentality
  • Languages: English (C1) needed, German is a plus.
