Duties:


The primary purpose of this position is to perform a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods.

The duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing double-entry accrual accounting work, maintaining a combination of journals and ledgers.
  • Analyzing documents to determine mathematical correctness, accuracy and validity.
  • Posting and totaling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing checks in dollars and euros for customers.
  • Preparing reports daily, monthly, quarterly and annually showing the financial condition of activities services.
  • May fill in and perform Central Cashier and VAT office duties, as needed.
  • Collects money for dishonored checks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
This position will require attention to detail and will require the incumbent to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications:


  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US Citizens and legal US residents in Germany. Recruitment limited only to the local commuting area of Spangdahlem. Legal U.S.
residents must possess a social security number or green card and must be:

  • A US citizen, or
  • A citizen of NATO country, other than the host country (Germany), and married to an active duty U.S. military member.

Qualifying Experience:

Comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to prepare financial settlements and reports and interpret regulations.
  • Experience utilizing an accounting system sufficient to follow funds and trace discrepancies

Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
