A future with tradition-shaping science: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) offers a wide range

At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences II, Institute of Chemistry, we

are looking to fill the following position, which is limited until

Postdoctoral researcher (m-w-d)

to be filled full-time. The position is suitable for part-time work.

Remuneration will be paid up to 13 TV-L, depending on the tasks assigned and fulfillment of the personal

requirements.

With the European Center of Just Transition Research and Impact-Driven Transfer (JTC), an interdisciplinary

research center will be established at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, which will address questions

about the fair design of techno-socio-economic change processes in transition regions in Central Germany and

link 'questions of the day after tomorrow' with current challenges.

The innovation team Bifunctional Catalysts for Green Molecules investigates the conversion of renewable

energies.


Work tasks:

  • Design and prepare highly efficient catalysts/electrodes for electro/photoelectrochemical renewable
energy conversion, e.g. electro/photoelectrochemistry water splitting, CO2 reduction, or other molecule

conversion reactions.

  • Perform insitu measurements to investigate the reaction mechanism.
  • Supervision of BSc and MSc theses.
  • Assist with the supervision of doctoral.
  • Data analysis and writing manuscripts.

Your profile:

  • Aboveaverage university degree (Master's degree) in chemistry, materials science, physics and/or a
similar field

  • Aboveaverage Ph.
D. degree in chemistry, materials science, physics and/or a similar field.

  • Strong background in one or some research areas of nanotechnology, electrochemistry, photoelectro
- chemistry, artificial photosynthesis and/or semiconductor physics.

  • Solid knowledge of electrocatalyst/photoelectrode design and experience with different (photo)elec
- trochemical reactions (e.g. OER, HER, ORR, CO2 reduction, methanol oxidation or other conversion re
- actions for the synthesis of different kinds of green molecules).

  • Experimental experience with using online methods to detect (photo)electrochemical conversion prod
- ucts, for example GC/MS or LC/MS, is a plus.

  • Experience with insitu measurements or DFT simulation for studying the reaction mechanism is ben
- eficial.

  • Ability and willingness to work independently and as a member of a team in an international environ
- ment.
