THE ROLE
ORAM protects and empowers LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees globally, creating sustainability and systemic change.

Founded in 2008, ORAM is one of the first international NGOs to support and work with, as well as champion for the rights of LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees globally.

ORAM has a long history of training and building the capacity of refugee-serving organizations, at the local, national and international level.

Our work ensures that LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees in a given region are able to safely access services and that their needs are met.


ORAM is therefore looking for a dedicated and experienced Inclusion Specialist to lead ORAM's LGBTIQ inclusion capacity strengthening and training program for humanitarian organizations operating in Central and Eastern Europe.


MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Codesign and day-to-day management of ORAM's humanitarian inclusion program in Central and Eastern Europe, reporting to ORAM's Senior Program Manager
  • Develop training and mentorship content and materials for LGBTIQ inclusion training sessions and mentorship programs for refugeeserving INGOs, NGOs and local organizations working in the humanitarian space in Central and Eastern Europe;
  • Conduct outreach to relevant stakeholders to assess their training and mentorship needs and capacity;
  • Organize training, mentorships and capacity strengthening sessions with relevant stakeholders;
  • Deliver LGBTIQ inclusion training sessions for NGOs and INGOs in Central and Eastern Europe;
  • Develop interactive and participatory training curriculums;
  • Be responsible for managing Capacity Strengthening Specialist;
  • Work with the Capacity Strengthening Specialist, focusing on mentorships and building the capacity of local LGBTIQled smaller organizations;
  • Conduct pre
- and post-training surveys and evaluations;

  • Assist in organize networking events and conferences in Central and Eastern Europe, bringing together different actors working with LGBTIQ refugees in order to build relations between potential donors, INGOs, NGOs and CSOs;
  • Lead collaboration efforts with other organizations doing similar work in different regions
  • Work with translators and interpreters to deliver training sessions and translate training materials;
  • Provide detailed mentoring to NGOs and work with them to ensure their programs are inclusive of LGBTIQ refugees;
  • Serve as organizational expert on LGBTIQ refugee inclusion in the humanitarian sector
  • Work with Senior Program Manager and partner research institute / university on research on queer migration in the region and mapping of available services;
  • Provide regular reports to ORAM's Senior Program Manager

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATION

  • Master's degree in relevant Social Science (e.g. sociology, psychology, law, social work) or other relevant fields (or equivalent combination of education and working experience in a relevant field);
  • Understanding of migration within the EU, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe;
  • Deep understanding of inclusion in the humanitarian space, with a special focus and demonstrated experiences of working on the inclusion of LGBTIQ communities;
  • A deep understanding of the needs of vulnerable and marginalized asylum seekers and refugees, particularly LGBTIQ people;
  • Proven ability to work with diverse communities;
  • Familiarity with the NGO sector in Central and Eastern Europe;
  • Ability to network and conduct outreach and demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders both verbally and in writing;
  • Demonstrated experience developing similar training content;
  • Demonstrated experience conducting similar training sessions and capacity strengthening sessions;
  • Dedication to the inclusion of marginalized communities;
  • Understanding of issues facing LGBTIQ communities;
  • Empathy and professionalism;
  • A selfstarter with an enterprising frameofmind;
  • Ability to work remotely, independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Knowledge of Central and Eastern European languages a plus;
  • Discipline, strong organization skills and attention to detail required.
