Head of Inflammation (M/F/d)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement inflammation and immunomodulation strategy with key stakeholders, including preMED teams, AskBio, Bluerock and Vividion
  • Drive scientific focus and strategic prioritization in area of inflammation as well as immunology and be accountable for defining future product opportunities in the field
  • Provide a clear focus on establishing Bayer as a player in antiinflammatory and autoimmune therapeutics by providing tomorrow's medical breakthroughs
  • Build a sustainable discovery portfolio targeting inflammatory and immunomodulatory mechanisms
  • Achieve yearly research deliverables: D1, D2, PCC project decisions and support pipeline building through inlicensing of external assets
  • Be a member of the Therapeutic Area Portfolio Meeting as well as other crossfunctional portfolio management teams as appropriate
  • Develop, establish and oversee research indications in inflammation and immunology in alignment with other functions e.g. Translational Medicine, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Strategic Marketing, as well as armlength companies, e.g. AskBio, Bluerock and Vividion
  • Manage PDD lab at Boston and PDD collaboration with MGH/BWH to provide constant flow of new targets and high quality D1s and evaluate and initiate external collaborations with academia and industry

WHO YOU ARE

  • M.D. or Ph.
D. in pharmacology, biology, biochemistry or pharmacy with long-term post graduate experience and preferably, experience in working in a highly networked environment (matrix organization)

  • Excellent clinical patient insights and knowledge of underlying disease drivers in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases as well as in depth understanding of innovative drug discovery process and good understanding of the development process
  • Established research profile and solid network with scientific peers of relevance in the field as well as deepens disease understanding in IPF, ILD, inflammatory & autoimmune diseases
  • Visionary leadership with ability to challenge status quo thinking in therapeutic area indications and providing solutions as well as demonstrated leadership and managerial experience from leading a team of scientific experts
  • Demonstrated track record of inspiring and working with people to build an awardwinning team as well as medical and business acumen with ability to provide patient centric customer focus
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills with good business acumen and the ability to deal with complexity and with ambiguity
  • Good emotional skills and personal insights
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
