Job Summary


We are looking for person who will Drive the Sustainable Finance business in Continental Europe for Standard Chartered Bank, contributing to deep and focused strategic conversations with clients around sustainability and sustainable finance, and ensuring that target sustainable finance revenues for Continental Europe are met.

The role will also entail engagement with internal and external stakeholders at senior levels, including engagement with the regulators in addition to peers, other market participants, and government amongst others.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Regional Head of Sustainable Finance ("
    SF"), West, the Sustainable Finance Lead for Continental Europe, and other members of the team and stakeholders in the AG to drive origination, develop strong client relationships at senior levels and be seen as an expert in Sustainable Finance by internal and external stakeholders. The role will also entail an understanding of governance as there will be regular interaction with the regulator on sustainable finance topics.
  • Proactively manage the designated Sustainable Finance client and product portfolio to ensure risks are appropriately identified and managed.
  • Safeguard the bank against reputational risk damage but proactively develop sustainable finance structures that are in line with global industry best practices and local / regional requirements
  • Lead the Sustainable Finance Europe business to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles

Skills and Experience
years plus banking experience with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Origination

  • Experience with dealing with regulators
  • Ability to promote good teamwork, collaboration and management of conflict across stakeholders
  • Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum handson supervision
  • Client focused with ability to establish and leverage high impact relationships while presenting creative solutions
  • Ability to interact at a senior level with clients and counterparts at other banks
  • Strong communication & presentation skills, and stakeholder management skills
  • Delivery and execution focused
  • Ability to work with lots of moving parts and complexity
  • Highly skilled in creation of briefing materials, report writing and preparation of presentations

Qualifications

  • Degree (BA or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of and experience across multiple products (preferred)
  • Knowledge of environmental and socials risks and ESRM policies of the bank
  • Be fluent in ESG ratings and benchmarking analysis
  • German speaker (preferred)
