We are opening a new post-doctoral position in the attosecond science team at the Center for Free-Electron Laser (CFEL) Science in Hamburg.

In the CFEL-ATTO group, we develop advanced attosecond technologies with the aim of tracking and controlling electron dynamics in matter.

The group has recently developed light sources delivering few-femtosecond UV pulses for the investigation of electron dynamics in neutral bio-chemically relevant molecules.

In this context, the postdoc will have to finalize the realization of a beamline dedicated to UV-spectroscopy for time-resolved measurements in chiral molecules, amino acids and DNA building blocks.

The beamline will be combined with various experimental apparatus such as a liquid jet for transient absorption measurements and electron/ions spectrometers for charged particle detection.

Profile:

A university degree in a relevant field, plus doctorate.

  • PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science
- experience with ultrafast lasers and attosecond technology
- experimental skills and interest in instrumentation development
- excellent knowledge of English
- ability to work as part of a team
