World-leading technologies don't make it into a BMW until they've undergone one of the most challenging journeys imaginable. It takes dynamic teams with outstanding technical skills to take them from the drawing board to the road.

That's why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table - and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

We, the BMW Grou, offer you an interesting and varies thesis in the area of Predictive Control in Driving Simulation.

The recently opened BMW Driving Simulation Center is the home to a variety of the most modern driving simulators in the automotive industry.

Our goal is to provide test drivers with a safe and realistic driving experience without the need of expensive real-world prototypes.

To achieve this goal, it is also required to push the motion systems' control beyond the limits of the state of the art.

Recent advances in control theory and computational power make prediction-based control algorithms a viable choice for this use case.

With this thesis work, we want to investigate the applicability of such predictive control algorithms to our existing fleet of driving simulators.

What awaits you?

  • Collaboration with some of the leading experts in motion cueing.
  • Research oriented thesis with cool development aspects.
  • Methodology development of stateoftheart predictive motion control algorithms.
  • Implementation of the methodology on pioneering simulator hardware.
  • Realization and evaluation of driving simulator studies.
Please note that your thesis must be supervised by a university on your part.

What should you bring along?

  • Ongoing studies in computer science, electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and in an agile team.
