We are Helmholtz Munich. In a rapidly changing world, we discover breakthrough solutions for better health.

Our research is focused within the areas of metabolic health/diabetes, environmental health, molecular targets and therapies, cell programming and repair, bioengineering, and computational health.

We particularly excel in the fields of basic research, bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and technological development.

Through this research, we build the foundations for medical innovation.

Together with our partners, we seek to accelerate the transfer of our research, so that laboratory ideas can reach society and improve people's quality of life at the fastest rate possible.

This is what drives us. Why not join us and make a difference?

Allergies have become one of the most prevalent chronic illnesses over recent decades.

Allergic diseases such as asthma, atopic dermatitis and food allergies seem to be directly linked to industrialization and urban lifestyles.

The Center of Allergy & Environment (ZAUM) at the Environmental Health Center, Helmholtz Munich is conducting basic to applied research to discover the origins of allergies and to identify novel preventive strategies as well as targets for innovative therapies.

Prof. Matthias Tschöp (Dr. Med., Dr. hc.)
, CEO of Helmholtz Munich:
"We believe that excellent research requires a range of different perspectives. Diverse teams reach better solutions and are more innovative in their research topics.

Establishing our Diversity Management Strategy demonstrates our commitment to ensuring an appreciative company culture based on mutual respect. We are also implementing diversity-sensitive processes throughout our whole organization."

Your tasks

  • Contribute to the development of in vivo and in vitro model systems for uncovering new regulators of IgEmediated B cell responses.
  • Explore the underlying molecular mechanisms and functions of the novel regulators.
  • Technically, the projects will require handling mice, employing methods in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and utilizing singlecell analysis technologies.
  • Plan experiments, analyze experimental data, write scientific publications, and present research findings in seminars and scientific conferences.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge about the scientific literature related to the research topic.

Profile:

  • Practical scientific expertise and strong theoretical background in fields like immunology, genetics, epigenetics, molecular biology or biochemistry.
  • Interest in doing research using mice as animal models.
  • Good communications skills in spoken and written English.
  • High degree of scientific curiosity, creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm to work in an interdisciplinary and international team.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to frontline research in the field of immunology and allergy.

The results of your work will shed light on novel molecular pathways that regulate the function of B cells and plasma cells in different scenarios like allergic diseases, natural infections, vaccine development, antibody-mediated autoimmune diseases, or plasma cell malignancies.

Benefits:

Since 2005, we hold the TOTAL E-QUALITY award for exemplary action in the sense of an equal-opportunity organizational culture.
