Beschreibung

The Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS in Halle (Saale) is a methodologically oriented Fraunhofer Institute in the material sciences and materials engineering disciplines and is currently offering a topic for Bachelor thesis / Master Thesis.

As part of a student work, an existing inline test system based on non-destructive thermography and laser profilometry is to be modified and tested.

On the one hand, a constructive adaptation of the test system in the existing manufacturing process is to be developed and implemented.

On the other hand, the data streams from the measurement systems should be synchronized and fed into a quantitative automated analysis, e.g.

through quantitative image analysis. The modified measuring system is to be tested by means of test measurements and investigation of data correlation.

What you will do

  • Familiarization with the topic of nondestructive inline testing of fiber composite structures
  • Constructive adaptation of an existing test system (roller device)
  • Carrying out inline test measurements in the laboratory
  • Quantitative data analysis to evaluate the measurement data
  • Further development of algorithms for the automated evaluation of the recorded image data for the detection of relevant manufacturing errors

What you bring to the table

  • Registered as student in an engineering discipline
  • Knowledge in the fields of mechanical engineering and data processing and analysis (e.g. quantitative image analysis, programming)
  • Independent and responsible handling of the task

What you can expect

  • Professional support from scientific mentors
  • An open and friendly work environment
  • Flexible hours that allow you to balance your studies and onthejob experience

With its focus on developing key technologies that are vital for the future and enabling the commercial utilization of this work by business and industry, Fraunhofer plays a central role in the innovation process.

As a pioneer and catalyst for groundbreaking developments and scientific excellence, Fraunhofer helps shape society now and in the future.
