DHL Express is seeking for a Director Network Control Centre Europe (f/m/d) based in Leipzig to be a part of our global network as a member of the Network Operations Management Team, could this be you?


YOUR TASKS:


  • Manages the daily /7 operations of the European Air Network with main focus to LEJ HUB Air Network and LEJ HUB Road Network. The role executes Regional Network Contingencies as necessary to ensure optimal connectivity is maintained every single day.
  • The Director has direct responsibility of the Regional Network Control Centre Managers and Duty Managers.
  • Oversees Air capacity in the DHL Express European Air Network and LEJ HUB local Road Network, including interfacing with Hubs & Gateways, Ground Operations, Road Network Control Group Europe and Airline Suppliers, aiming to optimise DHL operations, maintaining the set service targets.
  • Communicate to the wider DHL Express European and Global Management progresses in Regional Air Operations.
  • EU Network Control Centre with 60 FTE is the first natural point of contact for all flow issues in the network and it is therefore paramount this role is able to deal with and resolve the challenges presented balancing multiple stakeholder interest.
  • Assures optimum staffing competencies are obtained through training and coaching. Rostering and balancing of right profiles versus constantly evolving competency requirements, along with the Senior Director Regional Network Control Centre Europe.
  • Direct the on shifts Managers and Duty Managers to ensure full coverage On Time of DHL TDI Air Network.
  • Manage the last 72 hours of the European Air Network with Third party Operators.
  • Proactively communicate with Hubs & Gateways, Airlines, Ground Operations to ensure all changes are known and suits the overall Service Commitment.
  • Manage daily contingency and changes as required to preserve and protect the Air Network.
  • Ensure all and every flight/truck in and out of LEJ HUB is safely and properly managed from a load control perspective.
  • Provide Real Time Capacity coverage for all operations.
  • Liaise with direct and indirect airlines to ensure frames and crew are where required at the right time.
  • Manage third party charters live operations.
  • Initiate emergency procedures if and when required in a timely and safety first approach.
  • Feedback inputs from live experience to the EU Network Planning Group to improve future settings.
  • Validate and drive proper training qualifications are achieved at all time to enable Network Control Centre staff to perform their role effectively and efficiently.
  • Coach and Lead the EU and LEJ HUB Network Control Centre Teams directly reporting into the role.
  • Promote personal development of staff.
  • Promote the expansion of the Team Spirit within EU Network Control Centre and with the rest of the LEJ HUB and Aviation Teams.

WHAT YOU BRING:


  • University Master of Science or equivalent experience through work activities or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 57 years total experience in an international flight related environment, preferably within the DHL organization.
  • Network Control Group experience is an asset.
  • Operational background/action oriented.
  • Fluently spoken/written English language skills. All other languages are additional assets. German Language knowledge valued.
  • FirstChoice/DMAIC champion.
  • Direct experience of management in the Aviation or Express Integrator market.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and decisionmaking competencies and innovation orientation.
  • Flexible in working hours.
  • Ability to lead and be a member of cross functional teams.
  • Good all around communicator with written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Superb at establishing working relationships and developing personal contacts in crosscultural environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions.
