The Chair of Hydrology, Faculty VI - Department of Geosciences at Trier University, Germany seeks to fill

the permanent position of a

Senior Researcher and Lecturer

(Civil officer, salary grade A 13 LBesO, 100 %, probationary/lifetime civil officer status)

Tasks

Independent research in the fields of hydrology and water quality including funding aquisition

and publication in international journals

Independent teaching duties within the environmental sciences related Bachelor and English

speaking Master Programmes (in German and English) at Trier University including classes re
- lated to bio-geochemical cycling in aquatic environments and the fate of aquatic pollution.

Teaching hours per week during the winter and summer lecture terms are 8 hours, respectively

Management and organization of the laboratories at the chair of hydrology and the associated

measuring systems

Contributions to the administrative tasks at the chair of hydrology
Participation within the academic committees of the faculty and the university

Qualifications

Profound theoretical and practical knowledge of hydrological and ecohydrological systems

and/or water quality management is expected

Previous scientific work must be demonstrated through publications in international journals
Experience with independently obtained thirdparty funding is advantageous
Relevant teaching experience is advantageous
Experience in at least one laboratory technique is expected: the analysis of stable isotopes (H,

O), sediment analysis, elemental analysis, inorganic and/or organic trace substance analysis,

analysis methods for the qualification of microplastics or spectroscopic analysis methods (e.g.

fluorescence)

Knowledge of more than one technique is advantageous
Further requirements are an independent, goaloriented and responsible way of working, a

high level of motivation and the ability to work in a team

European driving license class B (or comparable)

Employment requirements in addition to the civil service requirements of the state of Rhineland-Palati
- nate are a successful Degree of a University Master programme (or equivalent) (Master, Diplom oder

vergleichbar) in the field of hydrology or related environmental sciences, a PhD degree in hydrology,

geoecology, or water treatment (or comparable fields) and at least two and a half years of professional

activity after the final university qualification.
