Job Description Summary:
Project EHS Leader for the Tennet German HVDC projects

The Project EHS Lead will be GE's Environment, Health & Safety representative during the execution of HVDC Projects.

He/She will be responsible to support the Project Director & the project team on all EHS matters, coordinate EHS activities on the site(s) of a given project and ensure coherent implementation of GE policies and procedures during the whole project execution.

Reports to GSI CE EHS Leader.


Main tasks

Preparation

/ EHS Plan

  • Prepare the Project EHS Plan and individual site procedures prior to mobilization and develop updates when needed.
  • Coordinate the GE site EHS programs with all projects stakeholders and assist the GE Construction Manager, Site Managers, Supervisors and Subcontractors in its implemention.
  • Ensure the site has identified all applicable legislation or standards, and ensure he/she understands the requirements, to achieve compliance.
  • Liaise with Subcontractors, insurance representatives, local medical services, local fire and police departments, local regulatory agencies, and Customer/Client on EHS related matters.
Emergency Response Plan

  • Prepare and regularly review the site(s) ERP
  • Ensure presence of all required materials and equipment, and that the persons required to use it are trained.

Prevention

  • Develop and deliver EHS induction plan for all construction personnel and visitors reporting to the project site.
  • Drive "Toolbox" safety talks, Safety Meetings, etc. for GE employees.
  • Ensure Sub Contractors hold regular EHS meetings and "Toolbox" safety talks.

Correction

  • STOP WORK for any unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Manage any on site incidents/accidents to ensure the required actions are implemented expediently and assist with conducting accident/incident investigations.
  • Advise the management of GE/Subcontractor of unsafe acts/conditions observed on the project site for prompt action to implement preventive measure to avoid reoccurence.
Records

  • Ensure proper record keeping by GE & its subcontractors (training / certification, audits, inspections, occupational safety and health monitoring activities,).
  • Manage the retention of the EHS required documentation in the Site EHS files and in GE tools.
  • Collect data required for the compilation of site EHS indicators
  • Identify best practices that may be of use to other sites and communicate these to the Project EHS Manager.

Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Degree/Diploma qualified in Environment, Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • Locally or internationally recognized professional EHS qualification
  • Strong experience as EHS in Onshore Projects. Offshore experience would be a plus
  • Fluent English and
    German
