The
Managing Director (MD) is responsible for leading the commercial success of GumGum across mainland Europe.


The German, Dutch, Belgium & Nordics markets are the core area of focus with an expectation of significant, sustainable growth.


This role is sat in Germany and reports to the General Manager (GM) for EMEA who is based in the UK.

They are responsible for managing their Netherlands, German, Belgium and Nordics teams to ensure we have a well guided, motivated team who are enabled with excellent strategy, training and tools to achieve their goals.


What You'll Achieve

  • Leadership
  • Exhibit exceptional leadership skills to nurture talent and provide development guidance and career planning for sales teams
  • Provide creative, strategic, and practical leadership to clients and team members through proactive and reactive support and guidance
  • Serve as an effective member of the EMEA regional leadership team
  • Design and manage the budget for designated regions commercial/ demand departments.
  • Lead the Ad Sales Function
  • Hire, train and mentor sales and business development teams to expand GumGum's business in the regions
  • Accountable to achieve aggressive quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Contribute to, and oversee the implementation of how we deliver our work and ensure quality through our process including the team and client experience
  • Manage lagging seller performance and provide clear, ongoing feedback.
  • Work with managing sellers to set annual and quarterly seller targets. Collaborate with finance on revenue goals
  • Travel as needed to meet with team members and clients / potential clients.
  • Trading Deals
  • Identify and develop opportunities to create deeper commercial partnerships with agencies and advertisers to drive sustainable incremental revenue
  • Work closely with the GM of EMEA to strategise suitable commercial structures which enable GumGum to grow aggressively.
  • Industry Representation
  • Grow awareness and visibility of GumGum across key markets through presence at key trade shows and industry bodies.
  • Actively develop and maintain a visible industry presence via leading presentations and speaking on panels and other events as required.
  • Senior Relationship Development
  • Utilise contacts across the industry to evangelize the GumGum offering across client leadership
  • Leverage industry relationships to help grow commercial opportunities and open doors for the sales team.
  • Strategy & Execution
  • Localize GumGum's global and regional EMEA strategy & goals across North Europe, fostering unity, cohesion, and fidelity within and across each discipline
  • Regularly monitor and measure progress against the strategy(ies).
  • Cross functional collaboration
  • Work closely with other key departments across the business including publisher development (supply), operations, accounting & finance, people ops and marketing
  • Communicate clearly to the business the requirements of the local market to exceed goals.
  • Industry Knowledge
  • Possess a broad view on the industry and the key topics which will impact our business and that of our clients
  • Use this knowledge to operate as a thought leader internally and externally to help develop the team and our business.

Skills You'll Bring

  • Extensive Senior Leader / Managing Director relevant sales experience across geographies
  • In depth established relationships across geos, especially Germany where this role sits
  • Significant managerial and leadership experience across multiple geographies
  • Ability to be a true leader in market and known SME in our products and services
  • Extensive understanding of the European online media landscape specifically in digital advertising
  • Strong knowledge of working in German, Dutch, Belgian and Nordics markets
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising business and ad serving, programmatic knowledge and experience preferred
  • Possesses a solid network of client relationships across the digital advertising landscape in assigned countries
  • Successful experience with cross functional collaboration across all departments of the company
  • Demonstrated success selling to major agencies and brand advertisers in relevant markets
