About the role:

Join us as a Coordination Officer and you will be working closely with the Head of ClientEarth Germany, providing a wide range of high-quality and essential administration, organisational and programme coordination support in our growing Berlin office.


ClientEarth is a legal and environmental charity that uses the power of the law to fight against climate change and to protect nature and the environment.

Our Berlin office currently has 16 staff, who work on a number of
our programmes, including Heads and Leads of Programmes, as well as a number of colleagues from our support functions including HR, Operations and Finance.


Meet your Manager
In this role you will be managed by
Prof. Dr. Hermann Ott. Hermann joined ClientEarth in September 2018 and is the Head of our Germany Office.

He is a qualified lawyer, holds a PhD in international environmental law from the Free University of Berlin, and is a professor for 'Global Sustainability Strategies and Governance' at the University of Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, near Berlin (HNEE).

Before joining ClientEarth he worked with the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy in Germany as director of the institute's Climate Policy Division.

From 2009 to 2013 he was a Member of the Bundestag, the German federal parliament in Berlin, and served as the Greens' speaker on climate policy.

Main Duties

  • Provide general administration support to the Head of Germany and other Berlin staff, including:
  • scheduling meetings,
- travel bookings,
- preparing agendas, summaries & minutes,

  • Help build a strong culture and community in the Berlin office
  • Help to ensure teams share knowledge and best working practices
  • Being an internal communications champion
  • Edit, format and proofread documents
  • Support on monitoring relevant legal, legislative or public affairs developments in Germany

Role requirements

  • Experience of providing administrative, research or similar support to senior staff
  • Previous experience in a reception or customer service role
  • Advanced (CEFR level C1) in English (essential)
  • Advanced (CEFR level C1) in German (essential)
  • Organisational skills and efficient management of multiple tasks and priorities
  • An interest in environmental and climate issues
