Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.


We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Europe.

We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.

Overall Purpose of Job:

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for the verifying that all works are carried out to a high standard and in line with construction drawings and will supervise the installation on site and guarantee that it meets expectations.

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all Field View Documents are up-to-date and complete at each of the three stages and will be responsible for daily reporting by populating the relevant textboxes and photographic evidence.

Taking direction from the Site Manager and Quality Control Manager, they will set the workload for the weeks ahead and will manage the closure of all snags on site.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure Production units match all approved drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards.
  • Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process.
  • Inspect, test, measure & report on materials & products being produced.
  • Ensure all quality checks are completed and recorded within the quality management system.
  • Accept or reject finished items.
  • Report inspection and test data.
  • Report and Record Non-Conformances.
  • Report and record Snags, assisting to arrange programme and time frame to complete.
  • Upload the relevant information to logistic portals.
  • All information discussed internally is classified under Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
  • Represent the company in a professional manner, with structured dialogue.
  • Areas of concern report and discussed with site manager to escalate them high up the line or to the clients.
  • Participate in weekly site meetings and liaise with client quality representatives.
  • Weekly Inspections of plant hire equipment.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:


Essential Criteria

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the M&E or manufacturing industries.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to coordinate timely closure of works.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, specifically excel.
  • Good mathematical and technical skills.
  • A good understanding of Electrical or Mechanical Schematics.
  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent awareness of health and safety policies and procedures.

Desired Criteria:


  • Certification in quality control is preferred.
  • Experience of weld inspection.
  • Experience of inspecting mechanical and electrical installation.
  • Experience of working in a Data Centre environment.
  • First Aid
