At the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry, the Chair of Physical Chemistry offers a position as

Research Associate / PhD student (M/F/x)

starting May 1, 2023.

The position comprises 67,5 % of the full-time weekly hours and is initially limited for 36 months, but ends prematurely at the end of the month, in which the last oral examination and the announcement of the overall result of the doctorate takes place.

The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).


Working field:


  • The project will combine two main parts: 1) development of a direct colloidal synthesis of semiconductor copper chalcogenide 2D nanomaterials with well controlled dimensions and crystal structure and their chemical transformations via cation exchange reactions into other semiconductor 2D metal chalcogenides, 2) fabrication of composite fluorescent‒plasmonic materials in the form of planar layered assemblies and investigation of interactions between the layers using advanced optical spectroscopy techniques.

Requirements:

- university degree in (M.Sc. or equivalent) in chemistry or materials sciences;
- specialization in synthetic chemistry, physical chemistry, or nanosciences;
- high self-motivation;
- experimental skills;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language;
- excellent computer skills.

  • Knowledge in the field of materials synthesis and characterization is advantageous.
