Pacifico Energy Partners GmbH ("Pacifico") is a renewable energy company for wind and solar energy as well as battery and hydrogen technologies.

We develop greenfield projects, repower existing plants, provide state-of-the-art asset management services and facilitate the acquisition of operational and turn-key plants.

We are looking for a student to write her/his Master thesis with our company.

We are convinced that long duration energy storage (LDES) projects are over the verge to be commercially viable, and we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic student to join our team and help us advance in this important field.

Topic
Commercial and technological readiness of long duration energy storage feasibility analysis for a real-life project

Tentative project content

Technology mapping
Identification of 23 target business cases for LDES
Mapping of existing technologies, TRL analysis.
Calculation / literature review of levelized cost of storage (LCOS) for the mapped technologies.
Business case development
Meetings with and analysis of the companies offering the shortlisted technologies for the business case I (time to market, readiness to deliver at scale, residual technology risk).
Feasibility analysis: technoeconomic evaluation to study the feasibility of a project using the technologies of the shortlisted companies.

Requirements:

Strong academic background in engineering, business, or a related field
Excellent analytical skills, as well as a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
Able to work independently and as part of a team and have good communication and interpersonal skills
Positive, entrepreneurial, and energetic attitude
Passion for the renewable energy transition
Fluency in English, other languages esp. German are a plus
