"Growth and characterization of fluoride crystals for nonlinear optics in the UV spectral range
"

The key responsibilities of the PhD student will include:

  • Growing highly UV-transparent BaMgF4 crystals.
  • Characterizing grown crystals through, e.g., transmission spectroscopy, laser scattering tomography, and determination of nonlinear optical coefficients.
  • Conducing laser frequency doubling experiments.
  • Collaborating with the research team to design and implement new experimental setups.
  • Analyzing and interpreting results, and contributing to scientific publications and conferences.
  • Keeping uptodate with the research on nonlinear optical materials for the vacuum UV and related areas.

The applicant must have:

  • A master's degree (or equivalent) and strong knowledge in solidstate physics, optics, laser physics, materials science or a closely related field.
  • Research experience, preferably in optical characterization and material synthesis.
  • Excellent analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
