We are offering a

PhD Student Position (M/F/d)

for the topic:

"Growth and characterization of fluoride crystals for nonlinear optics in the UV spectral range
"

The key responsibilities of the PhD student will include:

Growing highly UV-transparent BaMgF4 crystals.
Characterizing grown crystals through, e.g., transmission spectroscopy, laser scattering tomography, and determination of nonlinear optical coefficients.
Conducing laser frequency doubling experiments.
Collaborating with the research team to design and implement new experimental setups.
Analyzing and interpreting results, and contributing to scientific publications and conferences.
Keeping uptodate with the research on nonlinear optical materials for the vacuum UV and related areas.

The applicant must have:

A master's degree (or equivalent) and strong knowledge in solidstate physics, optics, laser physics, materials science or a closely related field.
Research experience, preferably in optical characterization and material synthesis.
Excellent analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
Motivation and passion for scientific research.
