The Vice President of Operations (Food and Beverage) EMEA is responsible for manufacturing operations in EMEA for all Pall business units and global manufacturing operations for Pall's F&B business unit.

The Vice President of Operations defines the overall operations strategy, structure, and processes to ensure customer requirements are met for assigned business units.

The role is ideally based in Bad Kreuznach (greater Mainz) with expectation to travel between sites in EMEA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Ensure the manufacturing objectives align with sales and shipment goals, for both short-term and long-term agreements with customers, to assure capacity, manpower and technology are in place to support all requirements. Strategic "make/buy" decisions, and specific manufacturing location decisions will result from the careful analysis of data to ensure maximum efficiencies and cost controls are maintained.
  • Accountable for promoting and deploying Danaher Business Systems (DBS) to achieve break-through performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Actively manage a DBS kaizen funnel to provide visibility of events, focus on gap closure, and sustainment. Schedule, charter, and facilitate events according to the phases of this funnel.
  • Ensures inventory and shipping/receiving functions at manufacturing plants are operating at levels that meet customers' needs and established financial benchmarks. Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation. Directs activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives Responsible for achieving optimum labor, and least amount of overhead and raw material costs. Works with Strategic Sourcing teams on vendor development programs and PPV initiatives.
  • Partner with BU Presidents to align and provide consistent leadership to ensure effective and efficient execution of assigned projects and growth initiatives. Drive an engaging team culture through leading the Plant Managers and Operations team to achieve delivery of distinctively high-quality products and services; to include performance, reliability, cost and on-time delivery. Identify and close skill gaps in the Operations teams while also guiding and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with Special Worker Safety-relevant Legal Requirements (Labor Protection Law, Industrial Constitution Law etc.) for the region and per corporate HSE guidelines. Most maintain a conscious and proactive HSE culture moving away from occurrence toward avoidance.
  • Lead Performance and Development Process for all direct reports, including providing coaching and development opportunities that will allow everyone's potential to be maximized.
  • Oversee operations budgets for assigned areas to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements. Including providing accurate forecasts to finance ensuring we meet or exceed our targets. Recurring analysis of the Capital Expense plans to ensure manufacturing capabilities are maximized with presentable returns on invested capital. Ensures fixed assets are preserved. Initiates recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant property.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 10 + years of diversified manufacturing management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in working in Multinational Company with a Matrix organization
  • BS degree in business, engineering or other related discipline
  • MBA or Master's degree in Management, Operations Management, and/or technical field preferred.
  • 10+ years people management experience, directly and indirectly leading organizations of 10 or more individuals, globally.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and quality requirements for industry and customers
  • Fluent in English and German is a plus
