Fully qualified lawyer in Germany with outstanding academic and legal qualification;

  • Minimum of 10+ years postqualified legal experience with at least three years at a reputed law firm with focus on employment law;
  • Experience in consulting of (codetermined) supervisory boards
  • Experience in employment law related matters including collective employment and labor law, negotiation and litigation
  • High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness but also desire to be challenged and think outside the box

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for an experienced Employment Lawyer with longstanding experience in consulting and handling (co-determined) supervisory boards.

Beside supporting different German business lines, you will be primary legal point of contact for all legal questions related to Amazon's supervisory boards in Germany.

You will be in charge of supervising the administration and governance of each co-determined supervisory board including future meetings, and will ensure relevant internal and external resources to be on "stand-by" for the chairperson of each co-determined supervisory board to call if and when topics or issues or questions come up that require immediate legal support.

You will also be the primary point of contact for the dedicated HR teams and work on a broad range of individual and collective employment law related issues.

You will also provide day-to-day labor and employment law advice to our management teams and be responsible for the design and roll-out of trainings to non-legal teams as well as supervisory board members.

As part of Amazon ́s German Legal team based in Munich you will work on exciting projects across business lines and across the EU, dealing with a variety of employment law topics and providing strategic counsel.

Key job responsibilities

  • Primary legal point of contact for all legal questions related to Amazon's supervisory boards in Germany;
  • Regular meetings with senior stakeholders to manage supervisory boards as well to provide relevant information to respective Supervisory Boards.
  • Supervising the administration and governance of each (codetermined) supervisory board including future meetings (e.g. setting up the agenda, prep of each agenda topic)
  • Draft resolutions for supervisory board meetings, appointment and dismissal of supervisory board members
  • Ensure relevant internal (e.g. Accounting) and external resources (e.g. auditors) to be on "standby" for the chairperson of each codetermined supervisory board to call if and when topics or issues or questions come up that require immediate legal support
  • Establish trainings as well as guidelines for supervisory board members, senior leadership as well as HR to guarantee compliance
  • Proactive planning, advising and implementing of guidelines, compliance programs to support the supervisory boards as well as senior management;
  • Support of supervisory board elections
  • Advising and supporting the HR teams on all German labor and employment related matters, such as disciplinary proceedings, health and safety, performance management, consultation;
  • Training the HR and Recruiting teams on new legislation, develop and implement forms and processes and help simplify automate processes;
  • Advising the businesses on strategic matters, including hiring and talent management strategy;
  • Drafting and implementing employment policies and standard documentation in close cooperation with the HR teams and stakeholders across the EU;
  • Proactive planning, advising and implementing legal and compliance programs and improvements to support and protect the business;
  • Handling administration and resolution of issues arising in existing relationships as well as prelitigation disputes;
  • Responsibility of employment litigation management including outside counsel management;
  • Supporting the businesses in dealing with relevant regulatory issues
  • Strong experience in commercial and corporate law topics with focus on supervisory board legal issues are a must, as are employment legal experience, project management skills and top analytical skills.
