What part will you play.


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Country Chief Risk Officer (M/F/d) who will lead the fill spectrum of the German Risk functions for SFS.

You will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of all credit and asset portfolio strategies of COF (Commercial Finance) Country Germany, and will be a member of the COF Country Germany Managing Board which is in charge of the sustainable development of the business unit together with the CEO and CFO

As Chief Risk Officer (M/F/d), you will advise and control all the activities of the German Risk function by:

  • Leading the development, implementation and supervision of risk strategies, operating policies, procedures and practices (for underwriting, asset management, portfolio monitoring, collections) to ensure a well-balanced portfolio.
  • Ensuring a full and effective delivery of credit underwriting decisions in line with policy, guidelines and agreed service levels, optimising profitability generated from assets at end of term through meticulous and comprehensive processes and minimising losses through proactive management of the overdue customers portfolio.
  • Actively leading the country portfolio through exercising lending authority, handling risk levels and credit losses through proactive modifications of the target markets, underwriting standards and policies based on MIS information and statistical analyses.
  • Implementing and supervising country specific measures for productivity and efficiency the risk organisation (automation of decisions, approval and conversion ratios, turnaround times, arrears development, credit loss level).
  • Providing Local, Regional and Central Management with regular and adequate reporting and implement/improve local reporting requirements in order to support monitoring and accurately reflect portfolio risk.
  • Recruiting and developing an effective risk management team, selecting and developing individuals in line with organizational needs and culture, including succession planning.

What you need to make real what matters.

  • A university or similar degree in combination with min. 7 years of Risk Management experience in different roles with particular emphasis on small ticket flow business in a financial institution, thereof min. 4 years in a leadership position
  • Proven experience in various Risk / Collection / Ops functions, including in a high volume, low ticket size, low touch environment
  • Broad Credit risk management experience in developing and managing a small ticket portfolio
  • Strong experience in building and assessing middle and large ticket leasing / renting transactions
  • Commercial experience in developing a portfolio would be preferable
  • Previous experience within risk / collections and recoveries / risk operations functions as well as risk assessment, rating and credit analysis, asset evaluation and management, pricing and portfolio modelling
  • Successful implementation and optimisation of risk management processes using automation or other tools
  • P&L and balance sheet management experience
  • Experience of leading teams (of approx. 25 people) and liaising with colleagues and partners within a regional, international and matrix environment as well as experience acting as a role model for inclusive leadership
  • Excellent English & German language skills required. Skills in other languages are an advantage
