Director, Global Policy & Public Affairs (M/F/d) Oncology

Location:
preferrably a Pfizer location within the International Developed Markets region


The primary responsibilities of the Director, Global Policy & Public Affairs, Oncology are to act as a strategic partner to key Oncology Leadership and to promote a policy environment that will enable access to Pfizer's Global oncology portfolio (International Developed Markets - IDM); to design and deliver structured public affairs and stakeholder engagement plans which support Global, Regional and Country prioritized objectives; to contribute in increasing country colleague's public affairs and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and to build Pfizer's reputation through innovative and aligned external and internal strategies and projects.

The Director, Global Policy & Public Affairs will also lead and execute the GPPA strategy for Pfizer's Breast Cancer portfolio.


What to expact:

  • Serve as a strategic Public Affairs counsel to Global and Regional Oncology leadership, as well as crossfunctional partners across the Oncology operating unit.
  • Monitor and provide insights on the effects of government policies, nongovernment organization/other stakeholder and competitor strategies for the business, in the international developed markets (Europe & developed Asia)
  • Develop the Public Affairs strategies and tactics needed for the strategic and operating plans (including stakeholder engagement plans), and ensure that they are aligned to commercial priorities and integrated into regional / priority country commercial strategic and operating plans; and ensure these priorities align with global oncology public affairs efforts and those in other regions (US, Emerging Markets, etc)
  • Lead Public Affairs efforts (stakeholder mapping, public policy scans, access and strategy development and execution) and support the work of our countrybased PA colleagues.
  • Identify strategic external opportunities and venues for appropriate Pfizer leadership, to deliver the company views on therapeutic area related public affairs and policy priorities
  • Form and lead crossfunctional teams that drive policy objectives in shaping the environment conducive to patient access and the freedom of Pfizer Oncology to operate.
  • Coordinate closely as a single point of contact for Corporate Affairs colleagues supporting IDM efforts in the oncology space.
  • Engage externally with advocacy organizations, societies, think thanks, scientific associations, and other influencers in support of key policy objectives
  • Create/supervise development of tools to advance Public Affairs & Policy initiatives for education and advocacy purposes with Policymakers, Patient Advocates, and other external groups
  • Engage and coordinate colleagues from other Corporate Affairs groups, PHI, Medical, Regulatory and R&D to support PA strategy creation and execution, and ensure alignment on key issues, and ensure acceleration of awareness and access efforts.
  • Develop and execute training programs to educate/sustain Pfizer country colleagues on key priorities and objectives
  • Develop and implement metrics to measure effectiveness and impact of key initiatives
  • Plan and manage a budget, and operate within established guidelines
  • Ensure all activities/programs are in compliance with Pfizer policy and legal obligations
  • Support the development and execution of strategic plan in support of key Breast Cancer business priorities
  • Strengthen Pfizer Oncology advocacy networks, Advancing engagement among leading Breast Cancer stakeholders

What you offer:

  • B.A. / B.S. required
  • Years of experience: minimum 7 years in the pharmaceutical industry, another health care sector, public policy, communication, public affairs, or market access
  • Knowledge of health care policy and pharmaceutical industry, and understanding of business and regulatory environment required
  • A history of effective alliance building in complex environments
  • Understanding of commercial business and the ability to translate commercial needs into strategic public affairs and government relations plan that improve Pfizer's operating environment
  • Strong capacity/proven track record for sharp strategic analysis and understanding, including incorporating alliance development, policy and public affairs components into the business analyses
