The Electrical Safety Engineering Specialist/VEFK- will report directly to the H&S Compliance Manager.


With the growing portfolio of projects, it has become clear that there is a need to centrally support the HV Safety Teams deploying the Safety Rules in Projects and Operational Sites.

The Electrical Safety Engineering Specialist/VEFK is required in order to support Lead Commissioning Managers, Operational Site Managers and the H&S Compliance Manager not just at project level but also at group and offshore business level so that knowledge, experience and requirements are standardized and consistent.


The Electrical Safety Engineering Specialist/VEFK will be responsible for the deployment of the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules across their region, they will also assist with deployment and development of the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules at a global level.

They will support individual Project Safety Rules committees and carry out the required training and authorisation process for all operational staff (APs, SAPs, and Control Persons) in line with the appropriate RSSI.

The Electrical Safety Engineering Specialist/VEFK will provide particular focus on preparation of operatives for the handover to O&M.


The role of the Electrical Safety Engineering Specialist/VEFK is to support Projects and aid compliance with the requirements set-out in the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.


The objective is to help enable the centralized approach in managing Electrical and Mechanical Safety across the IBRO global Business.

The Electrical Safety Engineering Specialist/VEFK will support the H&S Compliance function monitor governance of the implementation of the IBRO Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules through audits, evaluation, training and appointment/authorisation.


As VEFK specifically for the German Projects, this role will ensure electrical safety from the system in accordance with the German regulations and to the company's electrical safety rules, whilst ensuring that the operational performance of the project/site assets is maximised through minimising outages.


They will use the skills and knowledge from electrical engineering & safety methodologies necessary to develop and promote electrical safety within Iberdrola ́s Offshore Business sector whilst striving for continuous improvement.

They shall possess great communication skills and be able to interact globally with all interested parties.


Extensive international travel throughout the offshore business organisation will be required to allow this person to fulfil the global role within Iberdrola and its sub-holdings and subsidiaries to satisfy the company's safe development, construction and operation of offshore sites.


_ Education, Experience & Trainings_:


EDUCATION

  • The job holder should be, as a minimum, educated to Bachelors (BSc/BEng) degree level preferably in electrical engineering. In cases where the applicant does not meet this criteria, see college studies below.
  • The applicant should hold a higher national diploma (HND) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. However, this may only be accepted in combination with a timeserved apprenticeship and relevant work experience as e.g electrical craftsman.
  • Appreciation of Occupational Safety principles.

Other requirements (certifications etc.):

  • Training/seminars attended in machine or plant safety.
  • High voltage switchrights course
  • Currently or previously Senior Authorised or equivalent
  • Currently or previously Control Person Authorised or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 510 years 'electricity supply industry field experience' gained preferably in the offshore wind sector. As such should be, have been or capable of becoming an SAP and control Person at appropriate voltage levels this is mandatory experience prior to authorising SAPs and Control Persons under the IBRO Safety Rules. Experience of writing switching schedules and consenting to the issue of safety documents.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience in Electrical systems for HV electrical networks with a good understanding of: Electrical Design, System Safety and associated Control Systems, Equipment Design, including schematic and layout drawings.
  • Experience reviewing, updating, creating and interpreting technical specifications and drawings for HV electrical equipment and associated systems
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience with machine and plant safety including electrical permit to work procedures.
  • Manufacturing knowledge in WTG & substation fabrication, construction and commissioning.
  • Offshore Substation, Wind Turbine Generator.

TRAINING
Full (offshore) GWOs required including HUET
