Duties:


  • Greet and receive telephone calls and requests for assistance or information from patients, administrative support staff, nurses and physicians.
  • Ensure cast room, surgical suite, and treatment rooms are adequately stocked with supplies to include office supplies, operating publications and linen.
  • Input and extract patient and treatment data from the automated health care systems to perform duties such as patient registration or obtaining test results.
  • Clean and dress minor wounds, burns and remove sutures.
  • Perform a complete check of equipment prior to start of all surgical procedures.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position may require you to be oncall on a rotational basis, responding to emergency calls at times beyond the normal duty day.
  • The position requires the incumbent to maintain surgical technologist and spinal technologist certifications.
  • This position has a requirement to lift no more than 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction

Qualifications:


Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience of which includes providing technical support for Orthopedic medical procedures; performing a wide range of administrative duties such as ordering supplies and scheduling appointments; assisting medical personnel in performing minor surgical procedures such as casts, splints etc., preparing and setting up sterile treatment areas and maintaining equipment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI and DoDM
  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI and DoDM
  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a spaceavailable and reimbursable basis only.
  • Medical and dental care may be provided by host nation providers. The availability and level of care at host nation medical and dental facilities will vary by location.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
  • Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI volume 1250.
  • The initial length of this overseas tour is 36 months.
