The Deng's lab at the Institute of Virology takes an integrated approach to study the interactions between virome, microbiome, and the human host.

In contrast to the classical approaches commonly used in phage research, we are using single-cell technologies, multi-omics methods, culture-independent techniques, and machine learning to study phages and their interaction with the bacterial and human host for developing novel therapeutics.

Ultimately, we are aiming to develop personalized phage-based treatments against infections by multi-resistant bacteria and for manipulating the human microbiome in dysbiosis associated diseases.

Research Technician - MTA/ BTA/ CTA for Virology (f/m/x

Full time, Part time, 20-39 hrs/week

Neuherberg near Munich

Responsibilities:

Sample processing and analysis using molecular biology tools
Microbiological cultivation and isolation (aerobic and anaerobic)
Bacteriophage propagation and isolation (aerobic and anaerobic)
Organization and documentation of experimental work

Your qualifications

Biology lab assistant or related education (BTA, MTA, BioTA)
Microbiology, molecular biology and biochemistry skills
Good English knowledge due to work in an international team
Dedicated, conscientious, flexible, reliable and team working spirit

Provided that the prerequisites are fulfilled, a salary level up to E 9 is possible. Social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the federal public service (TVöD). The position is (initially) limited to 6 months, under certain circumstances an extension can be arranged.
