The research group of Professor Dr Kay Hofmann works on
the evolution of cellular defenses against pathogens, with a
focus on regulated cell death and ubiquitination pathways.
The advertised position is part of the DFG-funded research
network SFB1403 "Cell Death in Immunity, Inflammation
and Disease", which includes more than 20 highly-active
research groups studying all aspects of cell death in animals
and plants.


YOUR TASKS

  • You will work in close collaborate with other scientists on
a project studying the evolution of regulated necrotic cell
death.

  • You will conduct experiments, including the design,
production and characterization of recombinant prote
- ins, cell culture work, microscopy, cell death assays, and
more.

  • You have the chance to engage in computational analy
- ses that compare cell death modalities in animals, plants
and fungi.

  • You will analyze experimental data, develop and validate
scientific hypotheses

  • You will communicate results in scientific publications
and presentations and prepare a PhD thesis with the
results of your project


YOUR PROFILE

  • MSc (or equivalent) degree in the field of Biochemistry,
Biology, Biophysics, or a related discipline

  • Basic knowledge of common techniques in Molecular
Biology / Biochemistry / Biophysics

  • Fluency in English (written and oral), working knowledge
of German is desirable
