The "Strategy & Innovation" division of Munich Reinsurance (Munich Re) is responsible for MR's group strategy, organizational development, global corporate client management and integration of climate change.

Here, Munich Re's NatCatSERVICE supports business development in various markets within the Climate Change Solutions department by collecting and analyzing total and insured losses from natural disasters.


Your tasks

  • Research on current natural disasters for the NatCatSERVICE damage database, worldwide and in several languages
  • Review and interpretation of current scientific research on climate change to understand its impact on extreme weather events. Experience in evaluating IPCC reports is an advantage.
  • Entry of damage events as well as maintenance and updating of the NatCatSERVICE database
  • Statistical evaluation of natural disasters
  • Creation of map material with ArcGIS if qualified
  • Assessment of the current status and short
- to medium-term prospects of the energy transition, with a focus on technological and economic risks in the generation and storage of renewable energy.

  • Creation of concise and informative presentations for senior management, key customers, and other stakeholders

Your profile

  • Current master's student with an aboveaverage bachelor's degree in physics, geo
- and environmental sciences, meteorology, statistics, sustainability finance.

  • Interest in the topic of natural hazards, extreme weather, climate change and renewable energy
  • Precise working methods, confident handling of numbers, team spirit, and independent work
  • Programming skills in Python or confident handling of ArcGIS Pro would be an advantage
Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit.
