Scope of workfull-time position suitable for part-time
Responsibilities:

Duties primarily include teaching and research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.

Specific Duties
- (i) developing new tools for microscopic simulation of strongly interacting quantum systems out of equilibrium (non-equilibrium Green's function techniques, extensions of non-equilibrium Dynamical mean field theory)
- (ii) develop a theoretical description of time-resolved spectroscopies in solids
- (iii) understanding of metastable hidden phases in strongly correlated solids, with a particular focus on understanding the interplay between electron and lattice dynamics
- (iv) theoretical simulation of the electronic structure in correlated electron systems
- (v) cavity

Quantum Materials:
Can we use quantum nature of the electromagnetic field to control properties of interacting quantum systems?

The specific focus of the project "Extensions of non-equilibrium dynamical mean-field theory" lies on points (i) and (ii) above.

Another specific duty is the teaching of four teaching hours per week during teaching times (4LVS).

Requirements:

A university degree in a relevant field.

Strong record in theoretical condensed matter physics. Previous expertise in non-equilibrium quantum many-body theory and in numerical simulation techniques preferrable.

The applicant should have a doctoral degree in physics or should have passed his/her oral defence by the start of employment.

We offer

  • Reliable remuneration based on wage agreements
  • Continuing education opportunities
  • University pensions
  • Attractive location
  • Flexible working hours
  • Worklife balance opportunities
  • Public transport pass (ProfiTicket) and much more
  • Health management
  • Educational leave
  • 30 days of vacation per annum
As a University of Excellence, Universität Hamburg is one of the strongest research universities in Germany.

As a flagship university in the greater Hamburg region, it nurtures innovative, cooperative contacts to partners within and outside academia.

It also provides and promotes sustainable education, knowledge, and knowledge exchange locally, nationally, and internationally.

Severely disabled and disabled applicants with the same status will receive preference over equally qualified non-disabled applicants.
