Roles and Responsibilities:


You will be working in a dynamic team environment, on non-routine tasks requiring novel approaches, with limited structure and supervision.

Strategic Leadership. Define and guide strategic objectives and daily execution of support to US Army Europe
  • Africa. Ensure FFRDC appropriate impactful tasks are defined, and meaningful data driven technical products are developed in a timely and relevant manner. Proactively and closely partner with MITRE leadership to deliver seamless, holistic, and strategic impact to USAREUR-AF. Actively collaborate and leverage related projects to ensure maximum value and impact across MITRE's sponsors.

Domain / Technical competence.

Demonstrate strong familiarity and skill in one or more of the following areas:
(1) Multi-Domain Operations (MDO), including Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2); (2) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR); (3) Information Operations; (4) Integrated Deterrence; (5) DoD and US Army modernization and innovation initiatives.

Innovation. Leverage MITRE's Innovation Labs and Independent Research and Development (IR&D) programs to deliver additional impact to the sponsor. Work across projects, Divisions, and Centers within MITRE to identify collaboration and technology transition opportunities that are applicable to the sponsor and their missions.

Interpersonal skills. Deliver strong leadership and develop teams that partners closely with both senior military leaders and action officers to identify operational and engineering challenges, potential solutions, and communicate project goals and impacts clearly and effectively.

Senior Sponsor Experience. Comfortably and respectfully engage with senior military leaders and engineers as well as commercial executives and managers.

Technical Quality. Ensure technical products, prototypes, and recommendations delivered to the sponsor are reflective of MITRE's highest standards of technical excellence. Work in close concert with the N216 Department Manager and Chief Engineer in the execution of MITRE's Quality Assurance and Mission Value Chain processes.

Flexibility. Demonstrate agility and alter course as the environment and sponsor priorities shift. Understand the power of reach-back and be an effective conduit to bring necessary talent forward to make an impact relative to sponsor timelines.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You must have an active DoD TS clearance
  • Minimum of 105 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 83 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Familiarity with relevant technical domain areas, USAREUR-AF, EUCOM, & AFRICOM sponsor organizations, interagency coordination, program management and acquisition.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • An active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • MITRE Task Leader or Project Leader experience.
  • Experience working with Senior Government Leaders.
  • Familiarity with relevant technical domain areas, USAREUR-AF, EUCOM, & AFRICOM sponsor organizations, interagency coordination, program management and acquisition.
  • Demonstrated experience leading interagency teams focused on resolving crosscutting problems.
  • Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, or related fields; or equivalent experience
  • A clear understanding of defense related activities, requirements, and organizational responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and effective at diplomatically interacting with technical staff, analysts, and op
