ABOUT US:

Damen Marine Components (DMC) designs and manufactures a range of premium systems that are vital for the propulsion, manoeuvring and performance of vessels engaged in all types of maritime activity.

Our primary products are rudder and steering systems, nozzles, winches, control and monitoring systems, hydraulics, deck equipment, anchors and chains.

The first two categories are sold under the Van der Velden trademark. In addition, Damen Anchor and Chain Factory is part of the DMC group.

As well as supplying Damen's global network of shipyards, we work closely with third-party ship building and repair yards and distributors of maritime equipment around the globe.

DMC is focused on providing optimal manoeuvrability designs for every type of vessel, compliant with any classification society. With several office and production locations in the world, DMC is an internationally orientated company. We offer a global sales network and 24/7 support (service) network to ensure maximum performance of our products.


THE ROLE:

Van der Velden Barkemeyer GmbH is the Hamburg based subsidiary company of DAMEN Marine Components B.V. and for this Office we are now looking for a International Supervisor with "hands-on mentality"


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

As International Supervisor you will ensure the delivery of work meets quality and time requirements, whilst at all times adhering to the company's safety policies and procedures.

Your main job will be to represent our company best while supervising and guiding the services of our OEM Rudder Systems and Steering Gears on shipyards worldwide, with creating final Reports for our Clients.

Of course, you should also not be afraid to get your hands dirty during a service job.

Do you have a maritime background? Are you a strong character and know how to deal with people from Shipyards, Technical Superintendents, and Class Surveyors? Do you like to travel all around the World? If the answer is YES, you should be part of our International Service Team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Practical experience and knowledge of Maritime Business
• Technical understanding/experience in mechanics, welded constructions
• Flexibility and unlimited willingness to travel around the world
• Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Experience with MS Office programs for reporting of works
• Team player with good communication skills
• Independence in solving problems in an international environment together with owners, class societies, and shipyards
• Previous experience in selfperforming work, with handson experience, e.g. service engineer.

What we need from you, besides technical skills preferably in mechanics, fluent English and experience in the maritime business, is - to be a team player who likes to work with a small but very kind and competent team in Hamburg.
