Our Profile:

We are looking for a student assistant in the area of optimization of district energy systems. We are developing an IT infrastructure to optimize and control district energy systems. The operation of the districts is optimized with regard to the use of renewable energies. To realize this the operation of an electrolyser and heat pump offers flexibility. The optimization results are sent to the neighborhood operators as of system schedules.

The Institute of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Building E3D focuses on energy modeling and simulation of buildings and urban districts, the development of numerical models, Building Information Modeling (BIM), modeling and simulation of building physics processes, energy monitoring as well as research in the field of user behavior and thermal ergonomics including physiology and sensor technology.

The chair is an interdisciplinary team and offers fundamental as well as industry-oriented research, international contacts and a modern working environment with partly unique experimental facilities.

Your Profile:

Ideally programming knowledge in Python
Basic knowledge in the field of optimization desirable
Basic knowledge in the area of district energy supply or energy systems advantageous
Systematic and structured way of thinking and proceeding
Enrollment for studies at a university or university of applied sciences

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Support in the implementation of further plant technology (PV plants, wind energy plant, battery storage) in the optimization mode
Participation in setting up the live operation of the optimization models
Depending on interest, participation in the implementation of database calls in the optimization mode

What We Offer:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of initially 6 month.

A long-term employment is sought if suitable.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
