Power Solution > Functional Lead Siting Solutions NCE
VPS Region NCE represents the corporate product & technology organisation Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) in the 6+ GW p.a. regional business unit Northern & Central Europe (NCE), including about 30 countries with installed capacity across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with On
- & Offshore wind at the core. Our main responsibilities centre around technical contracting, technical value engineering, customisation and execution as well as product integrity and regional product market requirement management.


As part of the VPS Region NCE, the Siting Solutions team evaluates site climatic conditions throughout the value chain of a wind farm and optimises configurations, layouts and operational settings of wind farms for site suitability and performance to deliver best-in-class LCoE for our customers.


Responsibilities
Reporting to the Functional Lead of Siting Solutions in the Vestas Power Solutions Region Northern and Central Europe the responsibilities are various mulit-disciplinary tasks supporting the NCE Siting Community with:

  • Evaluating climatic conditions on a variety of sites
  • Investigation of flow and turbine interaction models on a variety of sites
  • Further shaping the use case landscape for the german market from a siting perspective
  • Actively contributing to wind farm projects in the sales phase
  • Supporting Siting Engineers with different data science tasks
  • Ad hoc tasks and support of Team Managers (Offshore, Onshore, Service, Ecommerce, Capabilities etc.)

Qualifications


You are on your last year of your Master's degree in the field of engineering (for instance within renewable energy, wind energy, aerodynamics, metereology or physics).

Furthermore

  • You have a solid theoretical background in wind turbine design
  • You have a solid theoretical background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • You have a solid theoretical background in wind measurement campaigns
  • You have practical skills with windPRo, WAsP and a CFD solver (Ellipses 3D, OpenFoam, WindSim)
  • You have basic understanding of python programming language
  • You speak and write German and English fluently

You can expect to be working maximum 20 hours per week.

Additional Information
The primary work location is Hamburg, Germany.

You can expect to be working around 15-20 hours per week - however, we will accommodate to academic schedule.
