In the junior Research Group (NWG) for the promotion of young female scientists at the Materials Research Institute (IMFAA), supported within the "Federal state female professors program to promoto female scientists in the STEM field", to the earliest possible date, Aalen University is looking for a

PhD Student - Solid-State Sodium-Ion Batteries (Na-SSB) (f

Parttime 70% (27,65 h/week)

Your tasks:

As part of the ASSB research group your research activities will involve:

The synthesis and processing of solid-state Na-ion electrolytes/electrodes
Indepth characterization of their electrochemical and chemical properties as well as microstructures
Construction of model cells as well as performing cell tests

Your profile:

Outstanding Master's degree in chemistry, materials science/materials technology, engineering, physics, or related disciplines with an overall grade of better than 2.5 in the German grading system.
Profound experimental background in the synthesis and processing of advanced ceramic materials
Strong background in battery technology. An experience in allsolidstate batteries will be beneficial.
Familiar with electrochemical techniques (potentiostatic/galvanostatic cycling, LSV, and EIS) and materials characterization techniques (XRD, SEM)
Ability to work in a team, independently and in a structured way, including the ability to write scientific publications, present research results at conferences or public meetings, and represent the research group at seminars/meetings
Good written and communication skills as well as fluent English.
Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Pyton/ Matlab/Visual Basic and Origin is considered as a plus

The position is initially limited to two years with the possibility of extension to enable the completion of a PhD-thesis.

The position will be classified in pay group 13 of the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L), provided that the legal and personal requirements are met.
