Regional Head of CWE (EU)

Location:
Oberhausen, Germany / flexible EU


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a confident and dynamic
Regional Head (EU) to join our SEA LIFE Conservation, Welfare and Engagement (CWE) team.

This role will ideally be based in Oberhausen, Germany however we will consider other locations in Europe commutable to a SEA LIFE Centre.


About the role
Reporting into the Director of Marine Programmes and Engagement, the Regional Head will partner with EU General Managers, Business Unit Heads and Divisional Directors to ensure the development and coordination of the essential expertise to maintain and develop world class, engaging and impactful aquarium displays, animal welfare and programs, now and into the future


Key objectives include:

  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure the region's animal care protocols and programs meet or exceed the regional or Merlin policies and standards
  • Ensure the region is proactively utilising the SEA LIFE Animal Ethical Sourcing suppliers and effectively planning the site collections to maximise animal welfare and guest experience
  • Working with key stakeholders to develop strategies to maintain and improve existing and new displays, meeting the SEA LIFE cornerstones and experience mandatories
  • Working with the Head of Training and site staff to assess skills and identify specific training needs and solutions. Promote and facilitate the production of papers and presentations, and develop staff and brand credibility, employee retention and succession planning
  • Leading the effective use of all SEA LIFE systems to share best practise and information that leads to continual professional development in displays and management staff
  • Lead the regional implementation of the strategies around conservation and breeding, ensuring participation of each site
  • Lead the development of excellent working relationships with local, national and international governmental and nongovernmental organisations, representative groups, and zoo and aquarium colleagues
  • Where practicable, seek accreditation to regional accreditation organisations, and meet all national and international licensing and permitting requirements

About you

  • Qualified to at least A level standard, you will have gained significant experience within, or supporting, the aquarium industry including specific experience with the SEA LIFE brand
  • Detailed knowledge of creating inspiring exhibits for our guests the SEA LIFE way
  • Detailed understanding of conservation in SEA LIFE and how to successfully run and complete projects
  • Detailed understanding of managing animal welfare in SEA LIFE, maximising the welfare of the animals in our care
  • A thorough understanding of the financial processes SEA LIFE operates within
  • Significant leadership and product development experience working across different countries and cultures
  • Computer literate in MS Office coupled with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A natural problem solver with a proven track record of innovation
  • You must be able and willing to travel on a regular basis
