Duties:
Serves in a position equal to that of an entry-level first or second tour Political officer. Drafts classified analytic reporting on all aspects of German foreign and security policy, focusing on their impact on U.S. interests as well as advocacy for U.S. positions.
Establishes and maintains contact with the German government, Parliamentarians and the foreign policy establishment (academia, institutes, press, etc.) Assists in arranging appointments for visiting officials, accompanying them and documenting their visits.
Works independently on his/her own initiative, coordinates reporting, and analysis with other political section colleagues and counterparts in other parts of the Embassy including Econ and Public Affairs section.
S/he reports directly to the Political-Military Unit Chief and is reviewed by the Deputy Political Section Chief.Qualifications and Evaluations:

Three years of general experience in one of the following fields is required: social science, politics, international relations, political, cultural, and social or human rights fields.
