The task of this master thesis is planned to be a part of research topic performed under "Electric Machines - Thermal Management and Verification" product group of Drive Control in software department.
- Literature survey on fundamental of heat transfer mechanism, electrical and mechanical power losses in an electric machine (PMSM) and modelling of state of art lumped parameter thermal network (LPTN)
- Development of an analytical thermal model of an electric motor in order to estimate hot spot temperatures in rotor and stator. (3-node LPTN)
- Design and analytical calculation of developed lumped parameter thermal network
- Identification und calibration of all necessary parameters of thermal model and state observer
- Validation of model with the help of simulation results and possibly verification of model on motor test bench measured with a special motor mounted with thermocouples
- Separate Analysis of integration of Luenberger observer and Kalman filter in 3-node LPTN
- Extension of 3-node LPTN by utilising measured stator temperature as state correction vector in order to integrate state observer in LPTN
- Interpretation and evaluation of the results obtained from motor test bench along with parameter fine-tuning using an iterative approach
- Development of a GUI-Tool to evaluate measurement routine and parameter calculation
Your Qualifications:
- Enrolled student (M/F/d) in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, robotics, or equivalent
- Area of research: Electric Machines (PMSM / ASM), Advance Control Technology, Motion Control, Luenberger Observer / Kalman Filter
- Knowledge of C programming languages is a must (skilled MATLAB script coding)
- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and Simulink Toolbox is necessary
- You are an organizational talent with very good PC skills (e.g. MS Office, Data Management, Jabref, LaTeX)
- You are a comfortable working in a team and possess selfinitiative, structured and analytical approach
