The Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology (HI-TRON) Mainz is a collaboration of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) with the Research Institute for Translational Oncology at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (TRON gGmbH), the University Medical Center Mainz and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

The goal of the partnership is to develop effective immunotherapies and to identify novel biomarkers for assessing the effectiveness of treatment.

The Dermal Oncoimmunology Lab (headed by Dr. Hafsa Munir) at HI-TRON Mainz is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic biology laboratory assistant to join the new independent research group.

You will be a critical member of an international, collaborative team with opportunities to contribute to the design of experiments, assay development and analysis of data.

Ihre Aufgaben:

Performing cell and molecular biology techniques including multiparameter flow cytometry, immunofluorescence imaging, tissue processing, cell culture and gene/protein expression analysis
Developing and utilising existing microfluidic platforms incorporating complex 3D multicellular matrices and performing genetic manipulation studies
Designing and performing animal experiments, including performing inoculations, treatments, taking measurements, and dissections
Contributing to the organization and management of the laboratory
Enthusiastically participating in all lab discussions and presentation to internal and external audiences
Contributing to peerreviewed scientific publications
Tracking all work and issues in the appropriate databases/tracking sheets
Train others in protocols developed in the course of the project

Ihr Profil:

Required:

Successfully completed training as a BTA, biology laboratory assistant or comparable qualification
Proficiency in both written and spoken German and English
Enthusiasm to learn new techniques and contribute to the evolution of the laboratory
Organised at gathering, analysing and presenting data in meetings
Diligent in record keeping

Desired:

Experience with cell culture, multiparameter flow cytometry and fluorescence imaging
Prior experience working with animals and in animal husbandry
Interest in computational analysis
Experience with Python and R programming tools is an advantage
