Responsibilities for this Position:


With a distinct understanding of technologies associated with supported systems, you'll perform field activities associated with installing, maintaining, integrating, troubleshooting, testing and servicing of fielded systems/products at technical/regional support centers, with little oversight or direction.

As the Senior Advanced Field Technician, we'll expect you to reset equipment by disassembling, cleaning and reassembling with replacement parts, if necessary.

You'll also diagnose mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures using established procedures. From day one, we will count on you to lead a team that helps General Dynamics lead the world.


Description:


Perform depot level diagnostics, failure analysis, in-process, regression and acceptance tests, and complete repair of Common Hardware Software (CHS) equipment removed from US Army Tactical Network systems and other CHS equipped Army Communications Systems.

These systems are complex, automated digital voice, data and video communications systems used for tactical Command, Control, and Communications.

This activity includes but is not limited to the following CHS equipment:

Cisco Routers, Switches and Firewall equipment modified for Military use

Hewlett Packard ePrinters modified for Military use

Brocade/Arris Switches modified for Military use

Version 2 3U Common Intruction Set Computer-3 (V2 3U CISC-3)

Version 2 Standalone Computer Unit-2 (V2 SCU-2)

Version 2 Uninterruptible Power Supplies (V2 UPS)

Media Converters & Modems

Various Computer Displays and Printers


Responsibilities:

Perform complex depot level troubleshooting, testing, and repair of CHS digital voice, data and video communication equipment as described above, using General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) developed drawings, schematics, test procedures and specialized test equipment.


Review and comprehend complex, detailed GDMS and commercial drawings and schematics for the purpose of disassembling internal equipment sub-assemblies, as well as large, integrated system level assemblies to complete repairs.

Perform complex reverse engineering of CHS equipment using limited available documentation with or without direction from GDMS engineering resources. Implement mechanical and electrical modifications to maintain functionality of original equipment configuration.

Check calibration dates on tools to insure tools meet GD's calibration requirements and accurately complete all required forms and log books

Provide documentation related to non-conforming material to support material disposition and rework/repair.


Provide training to US Army personnel on complex test and troubleshooting procedures and repair of the various CHS equipped shelters and related transit style equipment cases.


Required Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience, OR; An

associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; A

major certification plus 7 years of recent specialize experience, OR; 11

years of recent specialized experience.


Desired Skills and Abilities:


Minimum 7 years testing, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and non-routine repairs on CHS equipment from various communications systems which may include WIN-T, TOC's and JNN systems demonstrating a high level of problem solving capabilities.

Prefer at least 1 year of experience with encrypted systems.

Mil-Spec soldering;

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling;

ISO 9001:2000 training

US citizenship required due to requirement to deploy on short notice to possible hostile locations of indeterminate duration.

US citizenship required due to NSA restrictions on controlled cryptographic items (CCI). Secret security clearance required for various other cryptographic equipment at the secret level.

Computer proficiency using various Operating Systems such as WINDOWS 7 thru 10, SUNOS and Linux required.

Working knowledge of US Army Command and Control protocols.

Must be able to lift objects up to 45 pounds.

Must speak, write and read English.

Salary Note:

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).

Actual pay may vary.


Combined Salary Range:
USD $ USD $39.86 /Hr
