Software Factory is the central department responsible to harmonize and professionalize processes, methods and tools across the global software development for automotive control units (ECUs).

In this context Virtual Validation is an essential enabler to validate software with the approach "test-fast-fail-fast" in a very early stage of the Software development.

This includes a wide range of topics:
From virtualization of Electronical Control Units (ECUs) until implementation and operations of a cloud-based Software Validation Platform.

What awaits you?

You are responsible for the definition of the Software-Defined Vehicle Strategy in BMW Software Factory.
You are responsible for a continuous benchmarking of our Software-Defined Vehicle Strategy and derive recommendations to ensure our leading position in the market.
In crossfunctional teams from different departments and domains you are defining ProofofConcepts and Minimum Viable Product based on the customer and market requirements influenced by strategic aspects.
Further, you drive the implementation of the PoCs and MVPs in close collaboration with the virtual validation DevOps teams and Product Owners in Software Factory.
Preparing presentations for external purposes and representing the Software Factory (e.g., on conferences) completes your tasks.

What you should bring along?

At least 8 years of practical experience in strategy development and product management in automotive / technology industry or consulting.
Profound experience in automotive Software Development (embedded is a plus, with programming languages like Java, Python, C++) and in DevOps of Backend Systems (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) in an agile environment.
Expert knowledge in cloud technologies and distributed/networked systems.
Interdisciplinary way of thinking and working in dealing with internal stakeholders (departments and projects) and experience with cooperation partners.
Strong skillset and expertise in the definition of complex IT solutions incl. the ability to assert yourself and the passion to successfully realize the ideas.
Businessfluent German and English.
