With more than 80 employees, the Chair for Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Systems and the Institute for Power Generation and Storage Systems are among the largest university research institutions for battery storage systems in Europe.

We are continuously looking for motivated and highly qualified support to advance the energy transition.

We deal with all issues arising from the planning and operation of battery storage systems, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.

These range from system design and the development of operating strategies to profitability calculations and policy advice on all the latest battery-related topics.

We operate our own fleet of electric vehicles, support the power grid with a large-scale battery storage system, plan the decarbonisation of industrial operations or advise political ministries on strategic decisions that affect our society.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

Background of the task:

in the processing of research projects in the field of energy technology, extensive literature research, data evaluation and visualization, and presentations of the results are frequently required.

For these tasks we need support in our projects. In doing so, a broad understanding of various technological, economic and regulatory sub-areas of energy technology can be gained.

Furthermore, this job offers the opportunity to experience scientific work at an early stage and to look behind the scenes of the work in research projects.

Furthermore, programming skills can be enhanced or acquired through data analysis and visualization. The projects are about modeling energy systems in an industrial context. The goal is the decarbonization of glass manufacturing and mining processes.

The focus is always on battery storage, which is used to increase self-sufficiency, cap peak loads or participate in the energy market.

You will support daily processes and tasks related to research projects.

This includes:

Literature research on various project related topics
Creation, automated analysis and visualization of data sets
Summary of results in presentations

What We Offer:

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of initially 3 months.

It is possible to extend the contract.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 7 hours.
Up to 19 hours per week are possible.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
