What you will be doing


As Associate Scientist Electrocatalysis (M/F/d) you support the development and foster innovation in the context of a core competence subdomain within CRD.


Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead (participate in) catalyst development projects in the area of PEM and AEM electrolyzer
  • Build and maintain the knowledge base within Umicore
  • Deepen scientific understanding through experimentation and modelling
  • Spread relevant information, insights and foresights
  • Provide scientific content to research proposals as basis for new CRD projects and programs
  • Accelerate research activities with expertise and competence subdomain to offer at all times the most appropriate support in speeding up innovation

Who we are looking for

  • Master's degree in electrochemistry, phD and / or postDoc is a plus
  • Specialized on electrocatalysis
  • Experience in the Hydrogen / PEM/Fuel Cells environment (university, institute, company) is a plus
  • Experience with Fuel Cells, PEM/AEM Electrolysis Catalysts, solid state material development
  • Understand IP mechanics, funding, R&D contracting and confidentiality matters
  • English skills is a must, Dutch and / or German is a plus

  • Olen and Hanau (later on based in Hanau)
