Role Summary

This Legal Counsel role will be based in Munich, Germany and will report to the head of Legal Affairs Germany, who is a member of the Incyte Germany leadership team, and will be a member of the Region Europe legal team (headquartered in Morges, Switzerland).

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated legal and compliance professional with a background and interest in the pharmaceutical industry who enjoys working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

The role will offer excellent exposure to a wide range of legal and business matters and is well-suited for an individual who is flexible, open minded, eager to learn and willing to be an active contributor to a high performing team in a fast-growing company.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal, privacy and compliance counsel for Incyte's business and clinical development activities in Germany
  • Legal support to corporate administration (Board of Director meetings/ resolutions, compliance with internal corporate requirements, powers of attorney etc.)
  • Drafting and negotiation of various types of contracts and development and maintenance of local contract template library
  • Provide support and assistance to colleagues responsible for third party contracting and engagement (process improvement and training)
  • Legal research on various topics to support internal decision making
  • Provision of clear, pragmatic legal, privacy and compliance advice on a wide range of business activities relating to pipeline and marketed products
  • Prepare and deliver training on legal and compliance topics
  • Contribute positively to a strong culture of business integrity and ethics
  • May provide legal support to other countries/projects, taking into account skills, experience and interests
  • Travel to the European HQ (Switzerland) and Incyte's CH-AT office (Vienna) as required

Requirements:


  • Legal education from a German university and preferably in possession of relevant qualifications to practice law in Germany
  • First experience in a law firm (life sciences/healthcare) or inhouse at a multinational life sciences/healthcare company is preferable
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex or technical content in a convincing way to nonlegal audiences
  • Ethical and respectful of others
  • Experience in pragmatic counselling on healthcare compliance issues, including interactions with healthcare professionals and market access stakeholders, data privacy, advertising, clinical research, product launches, anticorruption, the German social code and European competition law is an advantage
  • Experienced and interested in navigating international, multilingual, and crossfunctional organizational matrices is an advantage
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a flexible mindset and cando attitude
  • Capability of properly assessing risks and proposing successful solutions, knowing when to escalate matters
  • Selfaware person who can prioritize effectively and successfully manage expectations
  • Proactive "selfstarter" who is results

  • Solid commercial acumen, gained through professional training or prior experience is beneficial
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to function effectively among an entrepreneurial, highenergy team to support the business in meeting its collective objectives effectively and in a compliant manner
  • Fluency in English and German is required. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
