Your tasks

  • Daily operation of cell sorters and support users on analyzer platforms.
  • Train new users as appropriate in cell sorting and analysis.
  • Support creation of training content and information material.
  • Routine maintenance and quality controls of sorters and analyzers.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems of instruments and sample preparation, liaise with service engineers.
  • Establish new flow cytometry methodologies, instrumentation and workflows, also crossplatform.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety and standard operating procedures (self and users) and keep excellent written notes.
  • Support users in experimental planning, troubleshooting and data interpretation of very high end flow cytometry experiments.
  • Support the seamless operation of the core (e.g. ordering, billing, user management, user scheduling, supply management, keep lab in a state of good order and cleanliness.)
  • Routine data backup from sorters and analyzers and maintenance of databases, routine scheduling of core facility services.

Profile:

Essential qualifications

  • Research/ lab technician (MTA/BTA/CTA) with at least 6 years of relevant flow cytometry experience, or Bachelor's/Master's degree in cell biology/immunology or a related field.
  • Significant experience working with flow cytometry technology, either in a core facility setting or in other roles.
  • Prior handson experience in operating and troubleshooting one or more of the following instruments: BD Aria III, BD FACSSymphony S6, BD Symphony A3 analyzer, Miltenyi MACSima analyzer.
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex high end panel design ( >20 parameters), optical configuration and compensation rules.
  • IT skills: MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and at least one of the following softwares: Diva, FlowJo, FCSExpress.
  • Experience in general lab management (e.g. purchasing and stock controls, working with field service engineers, routine calibration and QC, waste management).
  • Experience in writing, managing and reviewing SOPs.
  • Skills in molecular biology, cell culture or immunology assays (e.g. intracellular cytokines, activation, secretion assay, Treg supression assay).
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and an open, proactive mindset and clear customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, German highly desirable.
Desirable qualifications

  • Experience working at Containment Level 2 (BSL2).
  • Experience in highend panel design for high throughput imaging or spectral analysers.
  • Skills in microscopy, histology and high dimensional flow cytometry data analysis.
