The Division of Cancer Epidemiology is seeking an epidemiologist or postdoctoral student to join the team.


Job description:


Our division studies the causes of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and other chronic disease outcomes in the general population, with a special focus on the role of lifestyle and related metabolic risk factors, using prospective cohort studies.

In context of these prospective studies - notably, the EPIC cohort (European Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) - we are looking for a highly motivated colleague to perform quantitative modeling of the effects of lifestyle-related risk determinants for chronic disease outcomes, as well as disease-free and overall life expectancy.

The incumbent should have knowledge of advanced statistical modeling of prospective cohort data, including the joint modeling of repeat exposure and outcome information over time, and is expected to write scientific publications for high-ranking scientific journals.


Requirements:


  • PhD degree in epidemiology or biostatistics (or related discipline)
  • Good statistical evaluation and programming skills with SAS and/or R
  • Record of first scientific publications and good writing skills
  • Experience in epidemiological studies and methods
  • Enthusiasm for epidemiological research in an international team
  • Fluency in English is expected, German language skills are not mandatory
