We are offering an exciting opportunity as Health & Safety Specialist to be an important part in paving the way for Vattenfall and its customers and partners towards a fossil free future


As Health & Safety Specialist you will provide Health & Safety advisory and administrative support to the project in the pre-construction and construction phases of the project to ensure Vattenfall meets its legal H&S obligations and delivers on its ambitions in the development and delivery of the projects to ensure a world class health and safety performance and culture.

The H&S department for Offshore Projects and O&M consist of about 25 people.

We are responsible to ensure that the H&S mission and vision of the organization (including the high level policy) gets properly implemented and lived-up to.

We have a certified Health and Safety Management System, for which each member requires to support its implementation throughout the appointed sites.


Our long-term vision is to drive the sites and projects to a proficient maturity, where H&S is part of the DNA, and accidents are avoided at all times.

Within the team we have a high focus on team development, where over the coming year significant attention will be provided to our team purpose of becoming a "high performing, reliant and resilient H&S team".

What will you do?


As our new Health & Safety Specialist you will be working for our Norfolk windfarm covering cover all scopes and packages associated in the development and delivery of that offshore wind farm project both offshore and onshore.

i.e., Wind Turbine Generators, Foundations, Transmissions and Civils.


Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Providing administrative support to the project team to assist them in meeting statutory and internal compliance requirements
  • Providing administrative support in the execution of the duties of the Client, Principal Contractor, and Principal Designer as required under the Construction Design Management Regulations 2015, in particular administration of the project health and safety file, preconstruction information, F10 notifications, supporting the construction phase plan and permit systems
  • Supporting the project document control function as required
  • Supporting the implementation of the project safety culture program
  • Supporting in carrying out safety studies and risk assessment activities
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of the Project Emergency Response Plan, including emergency preparedness analysis
  • Supporting the planning and execution of drills/exercises to validate Emergency Response provisions across the project
  • Supporting the planning of audits and inspections
  • Overseeing incidents and safety observations reports and supporting satisfactory closeout of resultant actions
  • Supporting incident investigations as required
  • Supporting the supplier selection and procurement process
  • Supporting with lessons learned, safety alerts and other health and safety aspects and learnings
  • Supporting the development and update safety standards, instructions, codes and guidelines, and formalize them into company documented practices as required
  • Ensuring sharing and implementation of these across projects
  • Communicating openly to actively engage with the wider Vattenfall community on health and safety
Location

Work location can be London or Hexham to support the Norfolk project. Frequent travel has to be expected.

Furthermore you have:

  • Experience as a H&S professional and administrator preferably in offshore wind, energy or oil and/or gas sectors
  • Relevant degree
  • Level 3 qualification or above in health and safety
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in an offshore project's construction environment
  • Full and detailed understanding of applicable legislation, codes, and standards related to health and safety within offshore and onshore construction projects environments
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible, practical and proactive approach to managing operational challenges
  • Experience in integrated management systems
