Postdoctoral Researcher in Macroeconomics (M/F/d)
with an interest in overlapping generations (OLG) and heterogeneous agents models.


You will work on the implications of population aging on labor supply, saving behavior and economic growth, conditional on the organization and financing of pensions, healthcare and long-term care.

Experience with data sets relating to the above topics and knowledge about structural modelling are especially welcome.


Your Work Environment
You will work on a large-scale international project funded by the European Commission. Your colleagues are in Munich, Brussels, Copenhagen, Paris, Madrid and Montreal.

You will be interacting with other projects in the Institute funded by the Max Planck Society, the European Commission, and the US National Institute on Aging.

Our research includes international comparisons as well as country-specific analyses, especially Germany and other European countries.


Your Profile

  • Ph.
D. or close to finishing your Ph.
D. in economics or a related field,

  • Ability to work with OLG and similar models and to extend them to incorporate additional features such as heterogeneity in health and longterm care needs and provision,
  • Experience in handling micro and macro data sets to calibrate such models,
  • Strong interest in public economics and economic policy analysis,
  • Programming experience in Matlab and STATA (or similar software),
  • Fluency in English is required.
