Duties:

Responsible for pickup and delivery of supplies and equipment.

Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc.; moves heavy boxes, cartons, and/or luggage by hand, hand truck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears; and stacks boxes and cartons where directed.

Moves and arranges furniture as directed.

Responsible for grounds maintenance to include playgrounds, gardens, and yards. Polices surrounding outdoor areas picking up trash, pulling weeds, and landscaping. Operates hand lawnmowers or domestic-type powered riding lawnmowers and trimmers. Clears small trees and bushes using handsaw, hatchet, clipper, or hands. Shovels snow and debris from sidewalks and walk ways.

Notes condition of facilities and reports to supervisor items needing repair. Performs maintenance and minor repairs to interior/exterior structures and related fixtures. Assignments require the use of a variety of trade practices, i.e. carpentry, painting, plumbing, minor furniture repair, woodwork finishing. These simple routine tasks are performed with little or no supervision. Complex jobs will be performed by the local Civil Engineering Department.

Acts as a liaison between the program and Civil Engineering to ensure work orders are placed and followed through until completion.

Operates a variety of motor vehicles including 15-passenger vans for the purpose of transporting adults and children to a variety of locations both on
- and off-base. Also operates cargo vans, sedans, trucks, and utility vehicles. Performs preventive and daily operating maintenance on all program vehicles, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure, cleaning vehicles, and minor repairs. Maintains vehicle paperwork.

Performs other duties as required.

  • Incumbent must be physically in Germany before a firM/Final job offer can be received.
  • This position requires satisfactory completion of preemployment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. and USAREUR driver's license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete a preemployment physical.

    Qualifying Experience:
Must have skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds. Must have knowledge of defensive driving techniques and regulations. Must have skill in securing cargo for transit and knowledge of vehicle weight limits. Must have knowledge and skill in the operation, control, and cleaning of grounds maintenance equipment and light power tools. Must have skill in performing routine operator maintenance and adjusting equipment to perform required tasks.

Must be able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.


Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.


FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S.

education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
